Shafqat Amanat Ali – the Rockstar Ustad (A term coined by Bollywood music director Salim Merchant) is the biggest singing sensation to hit the subcontinent in recent times. He is the son of the legendary Pakistani singer Ustad Amanat Ali Khan of Pakistan, making him a part of the 9 generation old Patiala Gharana.
Shafqat Amanat Ali was the lead vocalist of the popular Pakistani band – Fuzon. The songs - "Mora Saiyan" and "Tere Bina" are also featured in Nagesh Kukunoor's Hyderabad Blues 2.
Shafqat Amanat Ali became a name one recognised beyond Fuzon, when he sang the chartbuster Mitwa, for Karan Johar’s Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna. He was also the voice behind the critically acclaimed song Yeh Hausla from the movie Dor, directed by Nagesh Kukunoor. His command over the classical idiom and modern music has made him a name to reckon with!!
Music Today presents Shafqat Amanat Ali’s debut solo album Tabeer as he embarks on this creative journey where he dons the role of a composer even as he lends his voice to these compositions. This nine-track album has some soul stirring music. It is a contemporary mix of earthy and traditional tones that allow for the freshness of the new.
The first track of the album - Main Nai Jaana Khairheyan de naal is the premier track of the album. The famous Pakistani singer Tufail Niazi had sung the original traditional folk which became Shafqat’s inspiration for this piece, though the original track sounds completely different. He borrowed one line "Khairheyan de naal" from the song and wrote and composed the rest in the same flavor. The track Dum Ali Ali... Mast Qalandar is another highlight of the album. Though this song has been sung by many artistes in different styles but Shafqat with all reverence and devotion has succeeded in giving a new touch to this popular track.
Other tracks in the album are Mohe Apne Hi Rang Mein Rang Le ,Din Mein Na Soyein Bairi,Aawo Saiyyo Sehra Parwat, Basti Aur Man, O Jindhri Bujhi O Yaar Sajan ,Kuchh Ajab Khel and Ya Ali.
